FAQ

If you had been aware previously, you would have already claimed the funds. Most of what we locate is based on a transaction from several years ago. Due to the thoroughness of our research, we are extremely confident (about 95% certain) that there are unclaimed funds being held by companies we contact. There is no risk to you if you get full details so you can fully assess if your business is entitled to the funds.

Every state has different rules about how different types of unclaimed property are treated. In California, property held by the state has no claim deadline. However, money held by local agencies has specific deadlines after which, if still unclaimed, these funds become the property of the local entity that has been holding them. If AALS contacts you and provides you with a specific deadline, claims made after that date will not be honored.

Every local agency has rules in place regarding what they require to verify a legitimate claim. Typically, claim forms are one page long and take less than fifteen minutes to complete. We will let you know the exact amount of the funds being held on behalf of your company, but our research focuses on claims that begin at $500.

We just need the name and email address of a company officer with the authority to sign on behalf of the business. This will allow us to release to you all of the details we have uncovered.

Certainly. In California, it is California Government Code Section 50052.

We completely understand this. We do NOT require ANY personally identifiable information from you. You will interact directly with the local agency. We will provide you with all the details you need to make your claim, and any personally identifiable information that the local agency needs to approve the claim will be strictly between you and the agency.

Just as you would not provide your company’s products or services to a customer without a clear understanding of the payment expectations of your customers or clients, we are in the same position. The information that we provide to you represents extensive research prior to us contacting you, and we just want to be clear on what we both will do.

NO. After you receive full details about the money being held, you will make the final decision regarding whether your business is the correct business whose funds are being held. If a claim is justified, we will, of course, encourage you to get your claim submitted prior to the deadline.

We are paid only if your claim is successful. Just so we are clear, that means when you receive funds from the local agency that we disclose to you, You are responsible for the payment of the contingent fee as specified in our agreement within fifteen days after receiving your funds. If, for any reason, you never receive any funds, you owe us nothing.
